A young wanderer tells Suzume, a 17-year-old girl from a sleepy hamlet in Kyushu, “I’m looking for a door.” After following him into the mountains, she finds a battered door amid the rubble, as though it were the lone remnant of the previous structure. Suzume, seemingly attracted to the exit, reaches for it.
As time goes on, people in different parts of Japan start seeing doors open. In order to prevent calamities from entering through open doors, the doors must be closed.
There was a sky there that seemed to combine the night sky, the morning sky, and the sky as the sun set, all in one. Suzume embarks on a “door-locking quest” with the help of the strange doors.
Watch Suzume Online on a Streaming Platform
Streaming Platform
Streaming of Suzume no Tojimari is currently unavailable on any services due to a lack of licensing. Given the film’s overwhelming success, MAPPA has opted to show it in cinemas only. However, the production company is averse to any revenue diversion. There would be no increase in revenue by offering the film for streaming.
Since no streaming provider has permission to legally provide Suzume no Tojimari without charging a fee, you won’t be able to watch it there. However, streaming sites like Funimation, Netflix, and Crunchyroll would almost certainly buy the movie.

Story
This is a tale about a major event that the protagonists can do nothing to prevent. My hope is that this film may inspire some audience members to reflect.
It’s like saying, “We’ll make it, right?” Although the coronavirus is a global emergency, I believe that we will face many such disasters during the decades of our lives.
There will be a lot of sudden changes and deaths in society. But people will still figure out how to live after that.
