The Death Note anime was directed by Tetsur Araki, based on the manga by Tsugumi Oba and drawn by Takeshi Obata. In addition, it features a number of films and games.

How to Watch Death Note Franchise in Order [Guide]

In the series, Light uses the Death Note to eliminate anyone he considers unfit to exist in his crime-free utopia. As part of his crusade, he assumes the identity of Kira, and the tale focuses on a conflict between two brilliant minds.

Death Note, while beloved by anime fans all over the world, only has one season, which consists of 37 episodes and adapts the entire plot. From October 3, 2006, through June 26, 2007, the show was shown.

Since Death Note (2015) is a distinct adaptation, it may be best to see it later in the series if you want to follow the films in chronological order.

Last but not least, you can avoid the 2017 film since it deviates too much from the book and changes the ending, but you should make your own mind up. But since it’s a totally different experience from the rest of the Death Note Japanese media, it’s not the one to start with.
