In addition to being widely regarded as one of the best anime of all time, Death Note also features some truly thrilling moments that have contributed to the show’s cult following.
It’s always been interesting to watch Death Note, and the show keeps getting better and better. I’ve compiled a list of what I consider to be the show’s best moments.
5 Best Death Note Scenes That Gave Us Chills
Ryuk Takes No Sides Neither L nor Light Yagami
Light and his new Shinigami partner Ryuk, are making their way home in the dark. Even though it’s only the 3rd Episode of Death Note, this one’s quite important. Ryuk says he won’t say whether or not it’s right to use the Death Note to kill people.
In the end, it is Ryuk the Shinigami who takes down Light. One thing is certain: he took no sides. The early emphasis on Shinigami’s neutrality is a nice touch. They are terrifying to look at! Light and I were discussing whether or not this guy would be after his immortal soul.
Dealing of Shinigami Eyes
Once again, we’re talking about a pilot episode, the first few episodes of this show are fantastic. Ryuk and Light are in Ryuk’s room together. The Shinigami, meantime, lures him in making a deal for the shinigami eyes. If they recognize a face, they can immediately see that person’s name and expected lifetime appear. But there is a catch: you have to sacrifice half of your life to do it.
In fact, it exposes a weak spot in his foxlike cunning. In order to murder them, he needs to identify them.
Near & Light Yagami Meeting for the first time
The remaining five law enforcement officers will meet L at this time. He is a nameless, faceless laptop user. Locked away in a closet till now. The crew is taken aback, as they had anticipated a badass detective type.
This particular scene has too many triple bluffs and various checkmate moves, for some it was quite confusing to understand.
Near Decide to Confront Kira By Going to Japan, Makes Direct Voice Call
During a phone call, N informs Light that he will soon be arriving in Japan. A wide shot of the interior of a tall building. Each of the two protagonists confronts the other. Then the music builds and we cut to the famous anime close-up of the protagonist’s eyes.
This only makes the showdown between N and Light in the end that much more exciting. So you want it to end already! Absolutely flawless in every respect!
The background, music, and color scheme are all great. The combination of these factors increased the intensity and thrill of the situation. Best possible set-up for a final “battle,” in my opinion.
Farewell to Kira by Ryuk in the End
This is the crowning achievement of a concert that was replete with breathtaking moments. Kira’s light shone through. Ryuk shot him and recorded his death in the Death Note by writing his name. His final moments are spent as he bleeds to death on a stairwell.
However, Light’s dying expression is heartbreaking. One is almost moved to pity him as a result of this. A close call! It’s over, and now all we can do is rewatch the show again.
