Although there were several references and indirect talks about the Shinigami King, the fun fact is even the writers did not reveal the actual image or his appearance. Ryuk did mention the shinigami king a few times, but we perhaps have ignored it.
The main reason for our ignorance is that we all assumed Armonia Justin Beyondormason is the actual Shinigami King, BUT HE IS NOT!!!, just a normal shinigami like others with just extra superiority and also might be the strongest shinigami.
The Shinigami King rules and governs all Shinigami, he is only ever mentioned in the third person and is never really seen in the main series.
- Species: Shinigami, Maybe
- Gender: Maybe Male, (as various Shinigami’s call him OLD MAN)
- First Debut: The C-Kira Story
7+ Shocking Facts on The Main Villain King of Death Shinigami in Death Note
7. His Initial mentions in Death Note
The King’s look is first stated to be incomprehensible, but no visual representation in Death Note 13: How to Read.
- The King’s appearance is too evil for human eyes.
- The King’s massive, globe-shaped body is dangling in midair by chains.
- There is a hollow in his bigger, outer skull-like shape, giving him the appearance of a skull head.
- He’s got four dangling limbs, but each “hand” only has three claws.
6. Lost Notebooks should be reported to the King (Like Court House)
A report of any missing notebook (Death Note Book) should also be made to the King. The character is little developed beyond Rem’s claim that the King is not easily deceived, a feat that Ryuk successfully accomplished.
5. Shinigami’s Don’t Like the King, But Still fear him
There are some Shinigami who don’t like him very much despite his high status, as implied by Ryuk’s previous reference to him as “that old fart.”
However, on another occasion, when Ryuk was instructed by Light Yagami to write two bogus laws on the back cover of Light’s Death Note, he sounded concerned that “the old man back home” might be angry with him and Rem. This indicates that Ryuk fears him, even if he does not like him.4. A New Rule was made by him in Never Complete One-Shot Manga
In the one-off chapter, he becomes enraged when he hears that Minoru Tanaka intends to sell the Death Note without ever writing in it, and he draughts a new rule that states that anyone who sells or purchases the Death Note after using it will be killed. Because of this, Minoru loses his life and his plan is useless even though it is implemented.
3. He allowed Light Yagami’s killing campaign but created a new rule to Kill Tanaka (New Kira)
A human who makes money off the Death Note without actually writing in it, was not allowed, the Shinigami King seems to dislike, if not hate. Light Yagami’s campaign as Kira was allowed to continue in the main series, but Minoru Tanaka was slain in the Never Complete One-shot manga due to a new law he created.
2. Stolen or Lost Death Notes can’t be replaced
According to the manga, he refuses to replace stolen or lost Death Notes, however it is unclear whether he actually manufactures them or just has a limited supply. It is also unknown whether or not the Shinigami King strictly enforces the many laws that govern the Shinigami Realm.
1. Special Figure Appearance of the King Of Death Merchandise
You can purchase the special limited edition merchandise of Death Note, which is a figure appearance of the King of Death.
Fan Theory: Light Yagami might be or become the Shinigami King After Death
In the anime, Ryuk informs Light that he now has a bright spot to look forward to once he passes away. (It has been shown that humans who utilise Death Notes do not enter Heaven or Hell when they die, but it is never established that he is unable to enter the hereafter).
In light of the present tense, it is possible that only a subset of the human population can be reborn as Shinigami, possibly only those who have used a Death Note? Then maybe there are other characters who turned into Shinigami, like Misa, Mikami and Tanaka.
Then this would again, create more questions, as Tanaka was killed by the Shinigami King was finding loopholes.
According to Rem, back in the Human world, “All shinigami’s ingestive system is either rotten or advanced and that they don’t need drugs to feed themselves.”
Light is aware that only Ryuk has a taste for apples. At the very least, he remembered Ryuk as a friend, and those memories surfaced.
