The movie Suzume no Tojimari by Makoto Shinkai was released on November 11, 2022, and on the same day, the official soundtrack by the Japanese rock band RADWIMPS was released, otaku’s already knew that RADWIMPS was working on a secret project with Makoto Shinkai just like previous titles with Your Name & Weathering with you.

The soundtrack has 25 songs from the film, including Yojiro Noda’s renditions of the film’s themesongs (Kanata Haruka and Suzume ft. Toaka) as well as Tamaki and Suzume no Namida. In the process of making the film, these songs were written but ultimately scrapped.
Shinkai’s first film in three years, it’s a coming-of-age tale about a girl named Suzume who travels to disaster-stricken areas of Japan and locks doors to protect others in her immediate vicinity. Nanoka Hara will play the heroine Suzume Iwato, and Hokuto Matsumura will play the villain Souta Munakata.
In addition, Makoto Shinkai revealed in an interview how closely he collaborated with the group throughout the making of Your Name. I had RADWIMPS alter some of the music to suit my tastes, and then I rethought the plot as I listened to the revised recording.
