“Death Note” is about how Light Yagami’s life falls apart, but the show wouldn’t be anything without its many characters. Some people get hurt by Light, while others try to stop him from terrorising everyone.

1. Ryuk Who’s Addiction To Apple Is Funny
He is a bored Shinigami who throws a Death Note, which everyone knows is a notebook that lets the user kill anyone just by knowing their name and face, into the human world to get away from his boredom. Ryuk’s Shinigami’s Eyes are one of my favourite things about him. With these eyes, Ryuk can see a person’s real name and how long they have left to live just by looking at them.
He can also make a deal with a person who has a Death Note by giving that person the same power in exchange for half of the person’s remaining life. In all honesty, Ryuk is not only my favourite Death Note character of all time, but also one of my favourite anime characters of all time.
Light and Ryuk’s relationship is fascinating. This unusual duo collaborates throughout the series, although neither of them likes the other very much. Ryuk is prepared to sit back and watch Light activate his Death Note, which he knows will have horrific consequences. Ryuk coldly records Light’s name in his Death Note after it becomes apparent that Light’s scheme to dominate the world as the new god has failed.
This frees Ryuk from the burden of waiting for Light to die in prison. It’s hard not to find Ryuk hilarious, despite the fact that he’s a nasty creature with no mercy at all. His obsession with apples is especially amusing, as he breaks into a bizarre dance routine when he can no longer get his hands on any. Just as there are a wide variety of humans, there are also many different types of Shinigami.
2. Light Yagami Being the Gentlemen & Smartest
When you watch “Death Note,” you want to see Light get out of dangerous situations that seem impossible to get out of. Still, you can’t wait until he finally gets what’s coming to him. He is one of the best anime characters because he is so much fun to dislike.
Light Yagami is a bored high school student when he discovers the terrifying power of the Death Note by accident. Soon, he is sure that he will use it to create a better world that he will rule. Yes, it is admirable that you want to get rid of crime at first. But as the series goes on and Light is always one step away from being caught, his horrible actions show what a horrible person he really is. He doesn’t really care about making a good world; all he wants is to become a god.
3. L. Lawliet The Surprising Name Reveal
Among the many oddball characters in “Death Note,” L stands out. His behaviour is strange in general. His stance is very awkward. Almost incredible is his insatiable craving for sweets, which he satisfies in odd (but amusing) ways.
However, his intelligence is unparalleled. While he ultimately fails to dethrone Light, he does establish himself as Kira’s most formidable opponent.
The game of cat-and-mouse between Light and L is a major part of the show’s draw. They are two extremes of the same coin; both are very intelligent people with firm beliefs about what constitutes fairness.
Their moments of harmony are so uncommon that they make you wonder if L and Light were ever pals. Importantly, L fights for what is good, although his methods are questionable at best. In this way, it’s similar to how Light’s dubious tactics to make the world fair.
L’s unwavering commitment to finding the truth about Kira and his persistent mistrust of Light rule out any chance of them being friends.
They’ll always hate each other, and that’s part of what makes “Death Note” so compelling.
4. Soichiro Yagami Underrated Character
Light Yagami’s father, Soichiro, is the only person in “Death Note” who is really concerned with making the world a better place through the promotion of justice. Soichiro is a highly regarded law enforcement official since he is the most committed to apprehending Kira. Soichiro has no choice but to put up with Kira because she literally lives in his basement.
Even as Misa uses her Shinigami Eyes to kill anyone who tries to interrupt her broadcast, Soichiro drives directly towards the Sakura TV office to confiscate the Second Kira’s tapes. When L has Light in custody because he thinks she might be Kira, he stays there too. Sayu Yagami’s abduction is arguably the worst thing that happens to him, and he goes into shock as a result. However, despite his hardships, Soichiro never compromises his values. By not using the Death Note, he is able to pass away convinced that Light is not Kira. Even though this is not true, it is difficult to feel sad that he has passed away peacefully.
5. Misa Amane Who is Stupidily Cute & Childish
Light exploits Misa to get what he wants without caring about her safety, while she is completely devoted to him. Their connection is similar of the Joker and Harley Quinn’s from DC Comics. For the sake of the Shinigami Eyes, he even manipulates her into committing suicide a second time so that he may learn L’s true identity.
Even after all that Misa has done for Light, he is eventually willing to discard her in favour of Kiyomi Takada, whom he refers to as his “goddess of the new world.” Never put your faith in another person for your happiness, especially in someone as unstable as Light Yagami, like Misa did.
6. Touta Matsuda The Extremely Funny
Matsuda, a member of the Kira Investigation Team, is a significant character in Death Note despite initially serving as little more than comedic relief.
Soichiro, his mentor and guide, sharply reprimands him after he shows some sympathy for Kira.
He’s the group’s comic relief, but he also happens to be the best shot and has a knack for clandestine operations.
Positive and admitting to being a wimp, he has a sunny disposition. Even with this overwhelming evidence, Kira still doesn’t think he’s worth the trouble of killing.
Light may have shown mercy on Matsuda because of their close relationship and Light felt that Soichiro would have wanted Matsuda to live.
7. Rem Who Lived & Died in loyalty
In “Death Note,” Rem is among the most interesting characters. Not because she is a Shinigami like Ryuk, but rather because of her unwavering devotion to Misa Amane. Sadly, her life is sacrificed for her loyalty.
The fact that a God of Death could care for a human being so much that they might be persuaded into doing their bidding is a tribute to how great of a character Rem is in Death Note. Her statements are always direct and to the point, but also brief and always honest.
Although at first glance Rem seems like just another stoic Shinigami whose demeanour contrasts with Ryuk, her love for Misa prove to be the final straw, leading to her own execution. In the end, she decides to kill L and save Misa at the cost of her own life.
8. Watari The Badass Grandfather
Watari may appear to be a mild-mannered elderly man, but he is not to be trifled with. Watari uses his incredible sniping abilities to disarm Kyosuke Higuchi before he can commit suicide by jumping out of a helicopter.
Upon seeing Watari’s name in Rem’s notebook, he uses his last ounce of energy to destroy all of his records, as L had requested. Furthermore, without Watari’s orphanage training, Mello and Near wouldn’t have the intelligence to overcome Light.
Watari is the true unsung hero of “Death Note,” if you think about it.
9. Near The Actual Successor
As with L, Near adopts a squat position and maintains an emotional distance from others during conversation. Mello takes after his mother’s love of sweets, but Near is more of a “toys and play” kind of guy.
Near, in his pursuit of justice for the Kira murders, indulges his childlike fascination with plastic and playthings by using darts, puzzles, and even hand puppets that mimic the suspects. Accordingly, Near approaches the Kira inquiry as if it were a game.
Although Near often seems emotionless, he does have a playful side, as seen in the sly grin that appears on his face if his suspicions are justified.
Given their age gap, Near’s triumph over the weary Light seems like a sociological satire on the inevitable decline of the older generation. It’s a fascinating twist on the “Death Note” storyline just before it all wraps up.
10. Naomi Misora Who Needed More Screen Time
Despite Naomi Misora’s little on-screen appearance, she plays a significant role in the show. Even more so, she comes very close to solving the case of the Death Note murders. Light only manages to evade her inquiries because a chance meeting gives him the opportunity to interrupt her before she reports him to the authorities.
Naomi was about to marry FBI agent Raye Penber when Light Yagami was killed. Following her friend’s death, Naomi decides to investigate the puzzle that Raye has left behind. Naomi, a seasoned FBI agent, uses her knowledge to determine that whoever murdered Raye Penber was present at the bus jacking Light orchestrated to steal Raye’s identity. She is also very close to revealing the details of Kira’s murder methods to the authorities.
But Light uses Naomi’s emotions against her, and he manages to mislead her into letting him in on her secret. Having learned Naomi’s name, he sends her on her way to her death. Even though she is another victim of Kira’s rule, her intelligence and love make her a unique and unforgettable figure.
11. Kiyomi Takada
Despite the impression that Kiyomi Takada only appears in the second half of “Death Note,” she actually appears quite early on. Can’t place it? She was a classmate of Light’s back when they were both in university. Actually, they went out on a date for a little while.
To Kiyomi, she is without a doubt Light’s true love. Of fact, Light simply makes use of her for show. After the time jump, Light reconciles with Kiyomi and hires her to replace Hitoshi Demegawa as the voice of Kira. Kiyomi is an excellent pick because she is a smart, attractive woman with an obvious air of sophistication.
There’s a lot of evidence to suggest that Kiyomi is a better fit for Light than the naive Misa Amane.
Sad to say, Light gets rid of Kiyomi as soon as she becomes a problem. She represents his ruthless ascent to power, and it is her story that followers will never forget.
12. Teru Mikami Who is Extremely Loyal to Kira
To demonstrate the value of this perspective, consider Teru Mikami. He’s not the best character in Death Note, but he’s definitely one of the most intriguing.
The idea of a second Kira was brilliantly implemented in Death Note.
Fans still fondly recall Mikami’s trademark repetition of the word “delete,” which was one of the more memorable parts of the character, and his warped sense of justice, which he had formed as a result of a tragic childhood, gave him the perfect choice to be another Kira.
13. Hitoshi Demegawa Funny Tv Commercials
Demegawa laughs in anticipation of the enormous ratings they’re sure to rake in when the Second Kira, Misa Amane, transmits blackmail footage to Sakura TV. Demegawa refuses to hand over the videos to Soichiro Yagami when he shows up to the TV station demanding their release, even if human lives are on the line. The only reason he gives them up is because Soichiro threatens his life with a gun.
Demegawa gives into his insatiable need for viewership numbers. As Kira’s official mouthpiece, he even has his own show, “Kira’s Kingdom.” But many of Demegawa’s requests are at odds with Kira’s ideology and serve solely to stroke his ego (and his bank account).
Demegawa’s name is on the Death Note because he disobeyed “God’s” will. The newsreader broadcasts his death. In spite of his comical nature, Demegawa effectively highlights the awful end that awaits anyone who put their focus solely on success in Kira’s universe.
14. Mello Gangster Personality
Mello, like Near and L, attended an institution with a programme for exceptional youngsters. However, unlike Near and L, Mello is cocky, pompous, and uneducated. Consequently, Mello is the show’s least-favorite character.
Some may find enjoyment in playing the role of Mello, but few would praise him for anything other than the self-assurance that ultimately prevented him from catching Kira. He’s rarely more than a little annoyance, and his storylines usually only add pointless complications.
15. Stephen Gevanni Who Spent one whole night to replicate Death Note
Stephen Gevanni is a pivotal figure in Death Note because of his role in the notes’ swap and his ability to replicate Teru Mikami’s handwriting so precisely that not even Mikami can tell the two apart. Had Gevanni been unsuccessful, all of Light Yagami/enemies Kira’s from the previous encounter would have been eliminated. Kira lost his final battle, and it was a losing one.
